Diamond Guide

Everything your buyers
ask. Answered.

The 4Cs, certification, settings, care, and sourcing — explained the way we do it across the sample table.

Before You Buy

Four letters that decide
everything.

Two diamonds of the same weight can differ in value several times over. The difference lives in four characteristics — graded independently, and read together.

C

Cut

The only C decided by human hands — and the one that does most for sparkle. A well-cut modest stone out-performs a poorly cut superior one, every time.

C

Colour

Graded D (colourless) to Z (tinted). Adjacent grades look identical to most buyers — knowing where the price steps fall builds smarter price architecture.

C

Clarity

Internal inclusions and surface blemishes — nature's fingerprints, FL down to I. The commercial sweet spot is eye-clean: VS and SI grades.

C

Carat

Weight, not size — one carat is 0.2g. Prices jump at the magic weights (0.50, 0.75, 1.00), so a 0.95ct reads almost identical for less. Smart buying lives in the gaps.

Certification

If it isn't certified,
it isn't confirmed.

A grading certificate is an independent laboratory's verification of a diamond's 4Cs — not the seller's claim. Every certified stone we set ships with its certificate.

Settings & Shapes

How the stone
meets the metal.

The setting decides how a diamond wears, catches light, and stays secure. Our setters work across every major technique.

Prong & Solitaire

Maximum light, minimum metal.

Four or six claws lift the stone so light enters from every angle. The classic — and the hardest to execute, since every prong must sit identically.

Bezel & Flush

The secure modern profile.

A rim of metal wraps the girdle. Sleek, modern, and the most protective for daily wear — favoured in Rekha and Seeds.

Pavé & Channel

A surface made of light.

Small stones set shoulder-to-shoulder on shared beads or rails — the continuous-sparkle technique behind our Gills surfaces.

Care & Maintenance

Advice worth passing
to your customers.

Five habits that keep diamond jewellery looking the way it did in the box. Worth printing on the care card.

Warm water, mild soap, a soft brush behind the stone where oils collect, rinse, pat dry. Monthly is enough for daily wear.

Diamond scratches everything — including other diamonds. Separate compartments or soft pouches stop a jewellery box damaging its own contents.

Chlorine pits gold; cleaners dull the polish. Jewellery goes on after perfume, and comes off before the pool and the cleaning cupboard.

Prongs loosen invisibly over time. A yearly professional check — stone, prong, clasp — is the cheapest insurance against losing a stone.

Value and insure significant pieces — the grading certificate is the documentation an insurer needs. Keep it somewhere other than the box.

Ethical Sourcing

Where it comes from
matters.

Your customers increasingly ask. Your supply chain should already have the answer. Ours does.

Kimberley Process

Conflict-free, certified.

Every diamond complies with the Kimberley Process — the international scheme that keeps conflict diamonds out of the legitimate supply chain.

Responsible Sourcing

RJC standards, audited.

Responsible Jewellery Council standards on human rights, labour, and environment — backed by our parent's DTC and Canadamark relationships.

Transparency

Origin, on paper.

From rough sourcing to final QC, every stage is documented. Partners can trace what they sell — and tell their customers with confidence.
